Information: Transport Links
Information Sub Menu
These two Web sites below both have extensive information regarding transport links to and within the Southwark borough.
Southwark has excellent transport links with the rest of London and the UK. We are close to two major railway stations. London Bridge and Waterloo provide frequent services across the southeast, and there is also an international rail terminal at Waterloo providing the Eurostar service to the continent. Thameslink trains provide a direct link from Elephant & Castle and London Bridge to Farringdon and Kings Cross. In addition trains call at local stations in Bermondsey, Denmark Hill, Dulwich, Nunhead and Peckham.
Southwark has good access by underground with the Bakerloo, Jubilee and Northern Lines all crossing the borough. The Bakerloo Line ends at the Elephant & Castle, whilst the Northern Line also stops at London Bridge, Borough and Kennington. Both lines provide connections for the rest of London. The Jubilee Line calls at Southwark, London Bridge, Bermondsey and Canada Water, providing an excellent link with the East London Line and the Docklands Light Railway.
We have an extensive bus network, with regular services from all parts of London. A number of buses from north of the river connect with the Elephant & Castle. Many buses also stop in Camberwell and Peckham, and offer a convenient method for traveling across the borough.
There is convenient access to major roads. However it is worth noting that the boundary for the Congestion Charging zone covers Tower Bridge Road, New Kent Road, Elephant and Castle and Newington Butts. There is a charge for access between 7.00 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
